Roger Ebert
I think Roger Ebert is an incredible man. His career as a movie career is quite impressive. But that's not even the most amazing thing about him. If you haven't hear his story Click here. I just can't believe how strong and motivated he is. To lose his lower jaw and his ability to speak in a battle with cancer. And still keep fighting to live. To share his story. To continue with his life. It's just incredible really. It makes me think, I'm so lucky and blessed to be perfectly healthy and able to function. And when I say that I can only think how Ebert would say he's fine too, say that he's better now after he lost his voice. The man is 67 and is still fighting. I feel like we can all draw motivation from him. We can push ourselves to be better and do more when we look at what he's faced and what he's done in the face of adversity. One small thing that I took away from the article is that it's a waste of time to be angry. Ebert knows that, its hard for him to express himself when he's angry and he doesn't even bother anymore. That's something I want to do.

Hey Alec! I really like how you wrote about how Roger Ebert doesn't focus on anger anymore. We focus on so many petty things in our lives and forget about how inconsequential it really is. I admire him for learing that the hard way by not being able to show his emotions and hope that maybe I can apply that to my life, too.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I like your fishies :D
ReplyDeleteI agree Alec and Anushiya! We are all too busy in our own lives and don't appreciate what we have. We spend too much time looking at everything that's going wrong and beat ourselves up for it while we should be loving ourselves and everyone around us. Having emotions is one of the main things most of us used in our definition for humanity and even though Ebert can't express his, he found a way around it.
ReplyDeleteI really agree with your statement about how it's a waste of time to be angry. Our life is way too short for us to spend our time angry about something trivial that doesn't really matter in the long run. Ebert was an amazing man in that despite all the wrong that had been done to him, he never really holds grudges.
